I approached the subject out of a personal inconvenience that my son and I have been dealing with for several years.


Most schools use dedicated apps, but still,

publish the materials on WhatsApp.


Parents and students deal with endless chats in the various WhatsApp groups to find out schedules, homework, etc.
 

In addition, students avoid being helped by others while doing homework.


Students do not keep a diary and have

difficulties managing time.

RESEARCH

I wanted to check whether students use the targeted apps to find the necessary information.
And are they interested in being helped by friends with their homework?

CONCLUSIONS

1. Students don't use the targeted apps but only WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is not convenient enough.
3. Teachers do not update the system with information.

I focused on why the 3 major apps that allegedly give solutions to the identified problems are insufficiently used.
At the same time, I tried to find the advantages of WhatsApp that make it very popular among teachers and students.

MASHOV & WEBTOP STRENGTHS

Comprehensive features: Mashov and Webtop offer a range of features for managing academic agendas, tracking homework, attendance, and grading.

  • Privacy and security data are kept confidential.

  • Customization: Mashov and Webtop can be customized to the specific needs of each school or classroom.

  • Streamlined communication: channel between teachers, students, and parents.

WHATSAPP STRENGTHS

  • Familiarity.

  • Easy accessibility.

  • Free app.

  • Ease of use.

  • WhatsApp is flexible and versatile, allowing users to communicate in various ways such as group chats, individual messaging, file sharing, and voice or video calls, which is more flexible than dedicated school apps.

MASHOV & WEBTOP PAIN POINTS

  • Outdated design.

  • Not intuitive.

  • Frequent log-in process discourages. teachers from using the app.

  • Limited communication.

  • The apps fail to push users to use the existing features.

WHATSAPP PAIN POINTS

  • Limited features: it lacks the comprehensive features offered by dedicated school apps.

  • Privacy concerns.

  • Distractions: As a social media platform, it can be a major. distraction for students.

  • Lack of customization.

  • The materials are not disorganized nor categorized, making it hard to find recent or older materials among the large groups.

The initial goal

My initial goal was to allow the student to
immediately see what assignments were left for him
and to be able to find all the study materials in one place
thus making the daily scenario the simplest.

My second objective is to encourage collaboration among students, a key component for a thriving learning atmosphere.

This entails enhancing teamwork, sharing knowledge, and facilitating open dialogue.

This strategy not only contributes to academic achievements but also prepares students with essential social abilities and life skills.

The third goal

My third goal was to create a sense of ownership for users
by giving them control over their experience.

This was achieved through personalization, enabling user-generated content and social features integration.

Additionally, gamification was used to engage and encourage users, fostering a sense of competition among students.

a low-pressure learning environment with short videos and quizzes. The feature is designed to expand the mind while still being a game, unlike most games students typically play.

The Progress Tracker, with its visual display of goal progression, motivates and retains user interest in the app. The inclusion of engaging visuals and illustrations further enriches the user experience, making it more satisfying and enjoyable.
